Dermaplaning & Sun Exposure

I often get this question and want to clarify what I tell my clients.

Dermaplaning can leave your skin more sensitive and vulnerable to sun damage. When you remove the top layer of dead skin cells, you expose the underlying layers of the skin, which can make it more sensitive. The sun’s UV rays can exacerbate these issues.

So laying out in the sun to achieve a suntan on your face after dermaplaning is not recommended (but you knew that already.) 😉

Here are some things to do to ensure the best possible results, after dermaplaning.

  1. Wear sunscreen: Make sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 before going outside. Reapply every two hours or more frequently if you’re sweating or swimming.
  2. Stay in the shade: Try to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and seek shade under a tree or umbrella when possible.
  3. Wear protective clothing: Cover your skin with clothing, such as wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to protect your face.

I hope this information helps!

Thanks for stopping by.
