I love a good, easy and quick dress pattern. Especially if it is a pattern made for knit fabrics!
Knits fabrics are so much more forgiving than wovens and if you use a ballpoint or stretch needle, good thread, and a zigzag stitch, they are easy to make garments with.
This week, I happened upon a box of vintage patterns at our local thrift store and I found this little beauty from the 80’s.
I love the cut of the dress because it is modest, flattering and with long sleeves – it is warm in the cooler months.
I needed a new dress for the fall, but it can be hard to find fall styles in (my favorite) summer colors- so I created my own.
Dress B with the round neck and long sleeves is the option I chose and I already had the fabric in my stash. True to what the pattern envelope says, I was able to make it last night and wear it today. From start to finish, the dress took about 2 1/2 hours to make.
It is so cozy and comfortable, I think I might make a nightgown too!
Comfortable does not equal sloppy. You can dress in comfort and still look like you care about your appearance.
I originally paired it with a brown belt and that looked okay, but it really stood out when I found a grosgrain ribbon belt that I made for my daughter and used that along with a pretty blue necklace.
Now, I am ready to run errands in style and I didn’t have to spend a fortune on my outfit.
What about you, do you sew? I would love to hear about it in the comments. I am self-taught and it took me many years of trial and error before I got the hang of it.
Thanks for stopping by,
